Cheap Honeymoons on a Budget

Zimbio Says:

If you’ve never had to plan your own vacation before, much less a pretty detailed honeymoon, that alone can be a little bit stressful. But add those increased travel costs we’ve been seeing lately, and it’s pretty much enough to make you cringe. Maybe you’re already footing the bill for a beautiful wedding, and you’re short on cash to plan your honeymoon. If you’ve been searching for honeymoons, you may be under the impression that there is no such thing as cheap honeymoons, and you may be right. But did you know that if you put a little bit of thought and research into looking for some cheap honeymoons, you may be surprised about what you find. Here are some great ideas for cheap honeymoons to help you get started with your brainstorming.

Cheap Honeymoons - Get out of Town
If you live in the big city, why not look into driving to a nearby smaller town and enjoying a more laid back lifestyle for a time?
Many small towns have some fabulous bed and breakfasts (that have lower rates during the week), with some excellent sight seeing tours, shopping, and beautiful scenery to take in. If you live in a small town and want to get away to the big city, then why not go to a nearby city and stay in a local hotel? Take in the sights, go to an amusement park or some museums, eat out at a fancy restaurant a couple of nights, and really enjoy yourself.

Cheap Honeymoons - Look into Off Season Travel
If you’re wanting to go somewhere for your honeymoon, and just getting out of town isn’t enough, then look into what locations are off season when you want to go on your honeymoon. This worked out well for me and my husband. We went to Mexico at an off time, between the winter season and spring break. During the off seasons, resorts and even airlines will lower their rates to entice people to make the trip. These cheap honeymoons can get even better as the dates approach, as hotels may have another dramatic drop in rates before your trip. My husband and I purchased our tickets early, along with an insurance policy that if the rates decreased from when we bought the tickets, we could notify the company and they would credit us back the difference. Not too shabby, and by the start of our trip, we had been credited back almost a thousand dollars. It was totally worth it.

Cheap Honeymoons - Renting a Cabin
While searching on the Internet for ideas on cheap honeymoons, I ran across this great area that offered secluded cabins on a huge lot of acreage for just a few hundred dollars a night, which is what you’d spend at any resort. The great thing about this was that all the excursions you’d typically pay dearly for on a cruise or other tropical vacation are included in the cabin rental. There was a nearby stream for fishing or tubing, horse back riding at no extra fee, bicycles, and each fully furnished cabin had their own huge hot tub and a view. Pretty romantic ideas for some cheap honeymoons huh?

Cheap honeymoons may be just a dream for some, but with a little bit of searching and talking to your sweetie about what they’re looking for in a dream honeymoon, you’re sure to find some great middle ground for cheap honeymoons. Be sure to look around you for deals, and stick to your budget. Also, look for ways you can get the best honeymoon for your money, that’s what really counts.

Seven Simple Packing Tips Set the HONEY-MOOD!

W e l c o m e L o v e r s !

This fun + flirty blog was designed for you! Visit the Honeymoon Bag Blog to get the latest inside scoop on the hottest honeymoon locales, tips on how to pack and everything romantic in between.

First on the itinerary is how to pack!
Here are my Seven Simple Packing Tips to set the ‘Honey-Mood’.

With summer in the air, wedding season is officially upon us and so begins the packing dilemmas of many honeymooners. Don’t fret, instead set the honey-mood and evoke the sexist you.

With all of today’s carry-on and check-in restrictions, the space in your bag is prime real estate. It is important to pack items that are going to lighten your load, uplift your mood and add to your honeymoon experience.”

Think beach chic. Find a carry-on, that’s a carry-all and acts as a travel tote and beach bag. A good rule of thumb is to fill it with everything you need for your flight and your first escape to the beach. Should your check-in luggage get delayed, your first trip to the sands won’t be compromised.

Channel your inner glow. Mascara, concealer, blush, lip gloss and a hydrating face spray is all you need. Your inner bridal glow will take care of the rest. However, this is the perfect excuse to buy a new lip and blush set that speaks to your ‘honey-mood’ and travel destination. Many spring color stories feature color palettes inspired by hot spots like the Mediterranean.

Practice safe skin. Pack easy-to-use products that both you and your hubby can share. A product like Coppertone’s No-Rub Sunscreen is great because it’s a continuous spray that provides quick and even coverage.

Think easy-sexy hair. Pack a bottle of aloe vera gel— aside from alleviating redness and providing moisture after a day out in the sun, you can mix it with water to spritz and cool off while on the beach. Aloe vera also acts as a great pomade to tame fly-aways and eliminate frizz. A neat trick is to apply aloe vera gel to wet hair and let dry naturally to get coveted beach waves.

Think date night. Now’s the perfect time to show-stop with stilettos that make you look and feel your sexiest, but can’t be tolerated for long periods of time. You know the pair you purchased for a romantic dinner date, but never seem to wear—the moment has finally arrived…dust off the dinner heels…its date night!

Think scentsational. Remember your choice fragrance will remind you of your magical vacation for years to come. Select a fragrance that is reminiscent of your honeymoon spot. Lots of cosmetic companies are developing fragrances that are destination driven and evoke the smell of the islands. My favorite is Beach by Bobbi Brown.

Think no ‘night-night’ nighty. It’s traditional and memorable to wear white lingerie on your honeymoon night, but keep things spicy and unexpected by wearing a red sexy panty underneath to relay you’re ready for playtime, not bedtime.

Bon Voyage ~ Maritza
